Opening Hours - 2018 Season
Our Lavender fields and Tea Garden opening hours for the 2018 season start on Saturday 16 June 2018 at 12pm - 5pm.
We are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 12pm-5pm.
Come and join us for a wander around the Lavender field and wild gardens. We will be closing at the end of our season on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August 2018 at 5pm
Entrance Fee: entrance to the lavender fields is FREE and donations are voluntary.
Come and relax amongst the rows of lavender, photograph the butterflies and bees that flourish on the lavender flowers, or visit our lavender gardens in the orchard, which contain over 40 different varieties of lavender that flower at different times during the summer. We also have a large wild garden that is a haven for lots of wildlife. Many birds, including colourful chaffinches, bullfinches, blue tits, wrens as well as a beautiful green woodpecker nest in the garden and children love to see the newts that live in the ponds during the summer months.
Why not pop into ‘Arthur’s Tea Shoppe’ for a refreshing cup of tea or a cafetiere of fine coffee with one of Joanna’s renowned farm baked sponge cakes or treat yourself to a clotted cream tea with lavender scones.
On your way out, drop into the farm shop to buy some gifts from our extensive range of lavender-based products. We also sell over 15 different varieties of lavender plant, many of which you can see flowering in our fields or lavender gardens. If you want some advice on which lavender plant would best suit your garden, have a word with Robin or Joanna, who will not only help you choose the right lavender for you, but give you plenty of helpful advice where to plant it, and how to look after and keep it in good shape for many years to come.
Opening times are 12.00pm to 5.00 pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. Entrance free.
Events at Shropshire Lavender 2018
Lavender Oil Distillation Demo Weekend – 28th and 29th July. Learn all about how lavender oil is made and watch Robin give a demo on our copper still. He will also talk about the history of Lavender Oil and Distillation through the centuries. Tickets will go on sale shortly.
We also host group visits during the summer from Monday to Thursday for WI groups, photography clubs, gardening clubs and even cyclist clubs that stop by for refreshments.
Most groups come during the month of July, when the lavender is at its best. We usually host groups of 10 or more people, either early afternoon (around 2pm) or early evening (around 7.00pm). Robin or Joanna then give an informal talk on how they started the farm, the main type of lavenders and where they grow naturally, the lavenders they grow and finally a brief history of lavender distilling, finishing with a live distillation of one of our lavenders. You’ll able to compare the scents of different lavender varieties Robin has distilled this year and in the past. We then provide tea and cakes/scones for the group, followed by a visit to the lavender shop on the way out.
Please contact us by email or telephone to arrange a visit. We do get quickly booked up so it is advisable to make your arrangements early in the year.
